The Simple Way To Use A Chemex
for an absolutely delicious cup of coffee

How’s it Work?
The boiling water slowly flows through the coffee, allowing the flavors to fully bloom and emerge into your cup creating simply the best, most delightful cup of freshly brewed coffee.
What You Need
- Your favorite coffee, either grounds or beans
- 6 – 8 cup Chemex
- Chemex Filter
- Tea Kettle
- Measuring Spoons
- Your Favorite Mug
- Grinder *if using beans
- Roughly 10 Minutes
- Cream & Sugar
The Simple Way to Use a Chemex
Turn On Tea Kettle
Start boiling the water now, so it’ll be ready in time for Step #04.
The perfect brew temperature is 200F.
Rinse Your Filter, Prep Chemex
Rinse filter with warm water, open so one side of filter has 3 layers, place into top of Chemex so 3 layer side is covering pour spout.
Grind Coffee & Measure
If you are using beans, grind them. Measure 1 tablespoon of coffee per 5 ounces of water. Hint! If using 5 cups of water, you will need 8 tablespoons of coffee. 5 ounces is equal to 0.625 cups.
Let it Bloom
Pour a small amount of water over grounds. Wait 30 seconds for the coffee to bloom and the most desirable flavors to be released.
Continue to pour water slowly, be careful not to overflow the top. Wait for the water to drain a bit before adding more.
Recycle Grounds & Toss Filter
Set aside coffee grounds for later use. Discard the paper filter.
Pour into your favorite mug & Enjoy!
Pour the freshly made coffee into your favorite mug. Add cream and sugar as needed. Enjoy the flavor and richness!
